Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a sheet pan.
In a large bowl, mix flour and sugar.
In a saucepan, bring butter, water, and cocoa powder to a boil. Pour over dry ingredients and mix well.
Add buttermilk, eggs, baking soda, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
Pour into sheet pan and bake for 20 minutes.
For the frosting, melt butter and cocoa in a saucepan. Stir in milk, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Pour over warm cake.
Notes
Top with chopped pecans or walnuts for added texture and flavor!
