Carajillo

The Carajillo is a classic Spanish and Mexican coffee cocktail made with espresso and Licor 43. Its rich, sweet flavors and smooth finish make it a perfect after-dinner drink or mid-day pick-me-up.

Ingredients
  

Carajillo Base

  • 1 shot espresso hot and freshly brewed
  • 1.5 oz Licor 43 or substitute with KahlĂșa or brandy

Garnish

  • cinnamon stick optional
  • orange peel for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Brew a shot of espresso using an espresso machine or a stovetop coffee maker.
  • In a heatproof glass, pour the Licor 43.
  • Slowly add the espresso over the liqueur, allowing it to create a layered effect if desired.
  • Stir gently if you prefer a blended flavor, or leave it layered for a more distinct taste.
  • Garnish with a cinnamon stick or an orange twist for an added aromatic touch.

Notes

For an iced version, serve over ice and stir gently. For a creamier option, add a splash of heavy cream or whipped cream.
